Eastern Virginia Medical School has developed a campus wide Emergency Operations Plan that includes an emergency operations framework for our campus as well as a hazard vulnerability assessment. A continuity plan was also created to ensure that mission-essential functions and key operations are restored as quickly as possible during and following emergencies and disasters. It is important, however, for everyone to take an active role in planning and preparedness.
In support of our campus wide emergency plans and protocols, each EVMS department is responsible for developing departmental preparedness plans specific to their respective needs and issues. Departmental emergency plans are building or department specific plans that are designed to protect building tenants during emergencies. The purpose of these plans is to ensure that people know what their role is and how and where they should go during an emergency.
