The Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center (VHARCC), also known as the AIDS Resource Center (ARC), is the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the state.

How the ARC Works
The VHARCC works with government agencies, professional associations, academic and community healthcare and faith-based providers. Multidisciplinary educational programs, expanding clinical programs and consultations on HIV/AIDS-relaled issues are offered.

Services
The HIV/AIDS Resource Center offers a range of services to healthcare professionals.
Education
Training programs are developed for specific disciplines in the health care industry on a broad range of HIV/AIDS-related issues. Center staff also works with communitybased organizations and correctional institutions to provide STD, Hepatitis and Substance Use trainings.
Training programs are provided both at the VHARCC office and at the provider sites upon request.
Resources
Information and referral services to multiple community resources are provided to persons infected with HIV.
Consultation
Direct consultation between health care providers, community-based organizations and consultants is available through VHARCC.
Consultation team members include physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, nutritionists, social workers, case managers, HIV peer educators and outreach specialists.
Media Materials
Technical, audiovisual and educational materials for staff and patient education are available through the resoource library.
Library services, available at no cost, include database searches, interlibrary loans, current awareness infonnation and answers to reference questions.
Referrals
Information and referral services to multiple community resources are provided to health care providers and persons infected with HIV.
