Rachel A. Burke, MD, FACS
Dr. Rachel Burke obtained her M.D. degree from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University in 1997. She completed her General Surgical Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia in 2003 and her Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Center in 2009. Dr. Burke served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1993 – 2018 and retired at the rank of Captain. She joined the faculty at EVMS in 2018 as an Assistant Professor.
Dr. Burke’s clinical interests include breast cancer, melanoma, pancreas cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, sarcoma, and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Burke currently serves as a co-director for the 3rd year surgical clerkship and is actively engaged in both medical student and resident education. She also serves as co-chair for the Comprehensive Breast Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is a member of the Surgery Executive Committee.
Dr. Burke is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
