Benefits
Undertake new learning associated with making you a better preceptor.
This may include acquiring new factual information, communication skills or teaching techniques. You can also learn how to make better slides or how to mentor.
Apply your new learning by teaching medical students, residents or fellows as a presenter.
You will be awarded 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for every hour of teaching time.
What you need to know
The process applies only to presenting at EVMS grand rounds or conferences.
Learning must be paired with teaching; you must engage in some new learning that is applied to teaching.
If you teach the same content on more than one occasion – even if the content is presented to a different audience – you may claim credit only once. However, if you undertake new learning – even on a previous topic – that becomes a new learning-teaching combination eligible for credit.
Learning sources
We expect that the educational material you use will have been developed independently of any ACCME-defined commercial interest. You can ensure this by using:
How to receive credit
Complete and submit the Speaker Credit Form. EVMS CME will calculate the amount of credit you will be awarded by doubling the teaching time and then rounding to the nearest quarter-hour. Credit will appear in your EVMS CME transcript.
