The Group for Women is a busy OB/GYN practice and a leader in women's health. We provide OB/GYN services from 3 convenient locations for birth control, HRT, office procedures and minimally invasive and outpatient surgical procedures to patients in the cities of Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton and throughout the Hampton Roads and beyond.
We have 10 devoted Board certified obstetricians and gynecologists, 2 Certified Physician Assistants, 2 Certified Nurse Midwives and a Family Therapist on our team.
We accept new gynecological and obstetrical patients, as well as caring for our established patients. Although each of us has individual patients, we are associates, and one of us is always available for obstetrical delivery, office care and hospital care.

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Physician Assistant in the OB/GYN specialty who is passionate about caring for women and treating their medical needs. As an OB/GYN Physician Assistant, you will test, treat, diagnose, and monitor disorders and illnesses related to women's health and their reproductive systems. You will perform exams and procedures, counsel patients, and treat women through their entire pregnancy terms and beyond.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interview new patients to assess their symptoms, needs, or problems; record and utilize their medical history for diagnosis
Perform well-women exams that include pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams
Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition
Counsel patients on safe sex practices and preventative medicine practices
Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including prenatal advising up to delivery and postnatal care, sometimes in collaboration with a midwife
Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose a problem
Continue personal education on current medical practices and innovations by reading medical journals, attending conferences, etc
Experience Required:
Active and unrestricted license to practice in state
Current and unrestricted DEA certificate required
Keeping up to date on Requirements and Qualifications
2+ years practicing medicine in private practice (OB/GYN preferred)
Proficient at patient charting and knowledgeable in relevant charting computer programs
Able to effectively monitor and manage other medical staff, assistants and students
Compassionate and personable with an exemplary bedside manner
Sound judgment and expert decision-making abilities
