Moriates led the creation of the Dell Med Discovering Value-Based Health Care online learning platform. He also created and leads the Choosing Wisely STARS program in the U.S. and serves as co-chair of medical education strategy for the International Choosing Wisely Consortium. Moriates is the executive director at Costs of Care, a global nonprofit that works to improve patient outcomes at a lower cost. He also co-wrote “Understanding Value-Based Healthcare.” (McGraw-Hill, 2015)
Moriates earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, and he completed his residency training in internal medicine at UCSF.
