Below are the major events that should occur at specific points during your college career in order to be eligible to apply to the MD program through the Early Assurance Program (EAP). Questions related to these activities, requirements or deadlines should be addressed to the EAP adviser at your institution.
Freshman Year
- Matriculate as a freshman
- Express interest in the program to EAP adviser
- Participate in pre-health club (if offered)
- Map out and begin completing prerequisites
Summer Break
- Consider shadowing various healthcare providers
- Obtain shadowing opportunities
- Begin accumulating direct patient healthcare experience (nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, paramedic, etc.)
- Begin accumulating volunteer experience
Sophomore Year
- Establish interest in EAP with adviser
- Apply to EVMS via the AHCAS EAP application by March application deadline
- Complete additional prerequisite courses
- Participate in pre-health club (if offered)
Summer Break
- Continue accumulating direct patient healthcare experience
- Continue accumulating volunteer experience
Junior Year
- Continue participating in pre-health club (if offered)
- Finish outstanding prerequisites
- Prepare for MCAT
Summer Break
- Take MCAT
Senior Year
- Apply to EVMS via the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) beginning in May. Application deadline: November 15. Instructions will be provided.
- Continue participation in pre-health club
- Continue required direct patient healthcare and volunteer experience
- Earn your bachelor's degree
- Submit final transcripts to EVMS after undergraduate graduation
Post-Graduate/Pre-Matriculant Period
- Complete pre-matriculation requirements (i.e., health requirements)
- Matriculate into the EVMS MD program in August following graduation
