Mission
Graduates of the EVMS MD program are community-oriented physicians who serve their patients, colleagues and the broader community with cultural humility and excellence. They seek to improve health outcomes through scholarship, patient education, and health prevention while supporting their personal well-being.

1. Patient Care: Provide patient-centered care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health.
- 1.1. Information Gathering: Use a patient-centered approach to effectively gather information necessary for the care of a patient.
- 1.2. Assessment and Management: Formulate an assessment and management plan for common clinical conditions.
- 1.3. Procedures: Participate in performing common procedures.
- 1.4. Diagnostic and Screening Tools: Recommend and interpret common diagnostic and screening tests.
- 1.5. Patient-Centered Care: Provide compassionate care that is sensitive to the patient.
2. Medical Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge about established and evolving biomedical, clinical, epidemiological and social-behavioral sciences and the application of this knowledge in patient care.
- 2.1. Foundational Knowledge: Use knowledge of the scientific disciplines to provide effective patient care.
- 2.2. Clinical Knowledge: Use clinical knowledge to provide effective patient care.
