Research excellence
Our faculty fellows present research annually at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine’s UltraCon and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) national meeting.
Our primary areas of interest include endovascular resuscitation, custom 3D printed perfused models and novel educational techniques. Our EVMS #TeamUltrasound has presented over 30 abstracts in the past two years with multiple publications.

Wellness in Emergency Medicine
Our commitment to wellness doesn't stop with EVMS' Wellness Works and GME's Resident Wellness programs for all residents and fellows. Emergency Medicine provides added support for trainees through our departmental Wellness and Resilience Committee.

Where you'll train
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for EVMS, is home to the area's only Level I trauma center and burn trauma unit and the region's premier heart program. Its active cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, sleep medicine, epilepsy and oncology programs, as well as its heart, lung, kidney and pancreas transplant programs, make Sentara Norfolk General an ideal place for trainees to complete rotations. Our fellows work in the hospital's emergency department, which has multiple state-of-the-art bedside ultrasound machines with a full array of probes.
