David R. Spiegel, MD

David Spiegel, MD is the Anne Armistead Robinson Chair in Psychiatry and serves as Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He joined EVMS in 2001 after almost a decade in private practice. He obtained his medical degree from SUNY-Health Science Center at Brooklyn, where he first gained an interest in cognitive therapy for anxiety disorders. Dr. Spiegel then completed his psychiatry residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Hershey-Penn State. His areas of interest include behavioral treatments for geriatrics and the interface between cognitive therapy and psychopharmacology for anxiety and mood disorders. Dr. Spiegel is a clinical supervisor for psychiatry residents and psychology interns and presents to community mental health professionals.
