Payment for services

  • Your insurance company requires that you pay a co-pay at the time of your visit. We accept cash, personal checks, VISA and MasterCard. We accept most major insurances in the Hampton Roads area. Contact your insurance company if you are unsure if we are a participating provider. 
  • EVMS Medical Group offers payment arrangements for those patients who cannot pay in full or who have self-pay balances owed on account. If you need assistance, please call the number on your statement to speak with a patient account representative.

  • We will file a claim with your insurance company for any services we provide. You may receive a bill from us for the amount your insurance company does not cover. 
  • If your doctor performed lab work or a biopsy for you at the office but then sent the specimen out for analysis, you may receive a billing statement from the hospital, even though you did not actually visit the hospital for services. In that case you will receive two bills: one from your doctor for the lab work/biopsy procedure as well as a bill from the hospital and/or lab for the analysis.

    Important things to know about lab work: You doctor should inform you if the lab work will be sent out for analysis. Your insurance carrier may have a designated lab facility, and will only pay for the services at these facilities. Remember to check your policy. If you have more questions about whether or not services will be covered, contact your health insurance plan.

  • Health insurance can be extremely confusing. A patient service representative is available to assist you with any concerns or questions about your bill. Call 800.283.4210, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
