Canoles Cancer Center Director appointed as Associate Dean for Translational Research.

John Semmes, PhD, has been appointed Associate Dean for Translational Research at EVMS. Dr. Semmes is the Anthem Distinguished Professor for Cancer Research, Director of the Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center and Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Cell Biology. Dr. Semmes is a widely respected, NIH-supported researcher in the molecular origins of cancer. Since his arrival at EVMS in 2001, Dr. Semmes has broadened the scope of the school’s cancer research expertise and built the proteomics research program into an internationally recognized center of excellence. Dr. Semmes holds a PhD in biochemistry from George Washington University. He completed postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
