Dr. Strasnick honored with Community Impact Award

Barry Strasnick, MD, Professor and Chair of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, last week was awarded the 2012 WHRO Community Impact Awardin the area of Health and Public Safety.

The category recognizes those whose efforts raise community awareness about safety issues and help protect the public, or whose individual acts of heroism save lives. Dr. Strasnick was nominated for his work with the Coalition for Hearing, Education, and Research (CHEAR).

WHRO awarded the honor to Dr. Strasnick and four other regional winners at a banquet on May 17. According to WHRO, Dr. Strasnick's work with CHEAR has "helped to better the lives of those living with hearing disabilities in the Hampton Roads Community and beyond."

Dr. Strasnick also was recently named as a 2012 Best Doctor in Virginia Living Magazine and was listed among one of the "Top Doctors" in Otolaryngology by U.S. News and World Report.
