Story Date: Mon, 01 Apr 2013 13:00:00 EDT

EVMS Community Care Day takes place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in Lewis Hall and Brickell Library on the EVMS campus. This student-run event offers important health screenings, including Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, diabetes, hearing, vision and skin cancer checks. The event is free and open to the public.

“Community Care Day speaks to the type of student who is attracted to EVMS — one who finds meaning in helping others,” says A. Edward Nadimi, MD Class of 2015, and coordinator of this year’s event. “Through the collaborative effort of students and the school’s local partners, we are able to give back to the Hampton Roads community and help make it healthier. We're excited for this year's event!”

New this year, the students are teaming up with Tidewater Arts Outreach and its 6th annual Sea Level Singer-Songwriter Festival. The program brings entertainment and healing through the arts.

Community Care Day also includes activities for children of all ages, such as arts and crafts projects, face painting, an obstacle course and more. There will also be a high-school science fair judged by EVMS students.
