Objectives:
- Expose fellows to fetal anomalies
- Understand sonographic details and images that are critical to the diagnosis of fetal anomalies
- Understand current protocols and up-to-date literature on the management and diagnosis of fetal anomalies
- Collaborate with neonatology and pediatric subspecialists on the care of patients with fetal anomalies to develop appropriate antenatal, delivery and postnatal care
Objectives:
- Present abnormal ultrasound cases with coordination between the sonographer and fellow
- Present the technical aspect of the ultrasound examination (sonographer) and case findings and brief review of the literature (fellow)
Objectives:
- Expose fellows to key concepts in maternal-fetal medicine and critical care
- Complete assigned reading in the Critical Care Obstetrics textbook (fifth edition), which is required reading on a quarterly basis
- The expectation is that by end of third year of the fellowship, all fellows will have read the required text twice
- Complete additional reading assigned prior to the workshop for topics assigned by mentoring attending
- Provide a case-based learning session, which will cover all the critical concepts in the assigned reading in addition to practical clinical management discussions relating to the care of critically ill pregnant women
Objectives:
- Expose fellows to fetal congenital cardiac anomalies
- Develop a core knowledge of perinatal diagnosis and the management of congenital heart disease including sonographic imaging, surgical intervention and genetic counseling
- Understand the indications and protocols for fetal echocardiogram as defined by national guidelines established by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine
- Collaborate with pediatric cardiologists on caring for patients with fetal cardiac anomalies to develop appropriate antenatal, delivery and postnatal care
First-year fellows must:
- Prepare a PowerPoint slide case presentation focusing on a recent infectious-disease case followed by a question-and-answer session
- Prepare a summary of the pertinent points and lessons learned during the conference
- Distribute the summary to the fellowship coordinator
- Be timely and lead a discussion with Maternal-Fetal Medicine staff and the Infectious Disease team
- Bring and collect the sign-in sheets and return them to the fellowship coordinator
