Rebecca Horgan

Rebecca received her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where she graduated with honors. While in attendance she received the Biological Society’s Obstetrics & Gynecology Case Competition Gold Medal, an International Citizen Award and an Irish National Healthcare Award for best student project during her time as co-chair of the International Conference for Healthcare and Medical Students.

Rebecca began her OBGYN residency in Monmouth Medical Center, NJ in 2017 and was chief resident during her final year. During her time in residency, she received the academic achievement award in 2019 & 2020, the SMFM residency program award for excellence in obstetrics and several research awards including the Anthony J. Cliento research award and the interdepartmental collaborative research project award.

Rebecca began her Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship at EVMS in July 2021 and will be beginning her career as an academic MFM physician here at Eastern Virginia Medical School after graduation.

Anna H. Nutter, MD
Third Year Fellow

Dr. Anna H. Nutter

Anna graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a B.S. in Psychology from Clemson University in December 2012. She then completed her medical degree in Charleston, South Carolina at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Anna began residency in OB/GYN at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in July 2017. She recently completed her training in June 2021 and joined the EVMS Maternal-Fetal Fellowship program in July 2021.

 

Alyssa C. Savelli Binsted, MD, MS
Second Year Fellow

Alyssa Savelli

Alyssa attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, VA where she received in 2012 her Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Religion. She then graduated with a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics in 2014 from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Additionally, Alyssa went on to receive her M.D. degree from Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in 2018 in Roanoke, VA. Shortly after, she went on to completing a residency in OB/GYN at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in June 2022, where she was named Academic Chief Resident during her fourth year. Alyssa began her MFM fellowship training at EVMS in July 2022.

 

Christiana C. Bitas, MD
Second Year Fellow

Christiana Bitas

Christiana, also known as Chrissie, graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychological & Brain Sciences. She received her M.D. degree from Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, NY in 2018.

Christiana also completed her residency in OB/GYN at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA in June 2022. She was the Obstetrics Quality Improvement Chief from 2021 to 2022 at Tufts Medical Center. Christiana began her MFM fellowship training at EVMS in July 2022.

 

Emily E. Nuss, MD
First Year Fellow

A profile picture of Dr. Emily NussEmily graduated Magna Cum Laude from State University of New York at Binghamton, Binghamton, NY in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology.  She received her M.D. degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY in 2019.

Emily complete her resident in OB/GYN at ChristianaCare Health System in June 2023.  In college, Emily was a four-year starter for Binghamton University’s Division I women’s soccer team.  Emily begins her MFM fellowship training at EVMS in August 2023.

Morgan A. Scaglione, MD
First Year Fellow

A profile picture of Dr. Morgan ScaglioneMorgan graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in 2014 with a Dual Degree Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Psychology.  She, then, received a Masters in Business and Commercial Law from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA in 2015.  She received her M.D. degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA in 2019.

Morgan completed her residency in OB/GYN at the University of Utah Health in Salt Lake City, UT in June 2023.  During her time at EVMS, she worked to create a medical-legal partnership between the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and Regent University School of Law, to connect at-risk patients and families in need of affordable legal aid with law school faculty to provide pro-bono work.  Morgan begins her MFM fellowship training at EVMS in August 2023.
