Botox

Botox

Botox® is a medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe facial lines or creases.  Botox® causes temporary paralysis of the small muscles into which it is injected by blocking nerve signals that allow the muscles to contract.  The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Botox for the treatment of frown lines, forehead creases, crow's feet near the eyes. However, several other areas can be treated.

Botulinum toxin can be used to:

  • Smooth crow's feet, forehead furrows, frown lines, lip lines and bunny lines
  • Diminish neck bands
  • Improve the appearance of skin dimpling of the chin
  • Lift the corners of the mouth
  • Soften a square jaw line
  • Brow lift
  • Improve a gummy smile

Results will vary from person to person, but on average, most can expect to see benefits in about 2 to 14 days, with results lasting about 3-4 months.
