Theme:  What does a healthy relationship look like for teens?

The COVID-19 pandemic had a multifaceted impact on the health of populations worldwide. In particular, it took a huge toll on the the physical, mental, and social health of young people who are going through many challenges associated with the transition to adulthood.

Our 2022 Open Call engaged the community in an open dialogue to support teens in all types of relationships (with friends, peers, partners, parents, etc.).  The contest was open to everyone to solicit insights and voices surrounding the theme to address the following goals:

  • Guide teens to recognize a healthy (or unhealthy) relationship.
  • Support teens to build and foster healthy relationships.
  • Create safe spaces to empower teens to communicate, prevent, and act against bullying, harassment, and violence.

Results

We received over 100 submissions, among which 75% were from school-age youth.  A group of 40 independent judges from diverse sub-populations evaluated the submissions, using a standard set of judging criteria.

We received over one hundred submissions, among which 32 submissions were identified for awards by a group of 40 independent judges from diverse subpopulations.

The winning submissions have been publicly announced and disseminated through EVMS program website, social media, and other community-based channels to generate dialogue about healthy relationships for teens.
