We embrace diversity in all its forms, including race, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic status, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression. At EVMS we believe that a mixture of backgrounds as well as vibrant life experiences are critical to a successful teaching, research and patient-care environment. Fostering an environment where all are welcomed, valued and supported to fulfill their potential is a priority at EVMS.
Our program is committed to:
- recruiting, educating and training a diverse and cohesive resident workforce that reflects the diversity of the community we serve
- increasing the number of EVMS residents from underrepresented minority groups.
- training residents as excellent pediatricians through advising, mentorship and support
This initiative is fostered by a newly formed Resident Diversity Committee, comprised of current residents, program graduates and program leadership in underrepresented minorities in medicine, with advisement from the EVMS Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion.
