3 warning signs of prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among North American men and the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Most men don’t have any symptoms in the early stages, which makes it extremely dangerous, but there are a few warning signs to keep in mind.
Urinary problems
Tumors can cause a blockage, which often leads to difficulty urinating. That could present as having a hard time starting or stopping, needing to go often, a weak flow and pain or burning. Blood in the urine is also a potential indicator.
Frequent mid-section pain
Prostate cancer can contribute to pain in the lower back, abdomen, hips or upper thighs. One frequent complaint is pain when sitting down.
Erectile dysfunction
Some patients have been diagnosed after complaining of sudden onset erectile dysfunction. Others have also noted blood in the semen or painful ejaculation.
If you notice any of these symptoms, call your health-care provider.
