Brad Waitzer Scholarship Challenge surpasses goal
The Brad Waitzer Scholarship challenge, which ran from February 1, 2023, to August 31, 2023, aimed to raise funds for medical student scholarships, enabling students to pursue their dreams in the field of medicine without the burden of financial constraints. Brad Waitzer’s pledge to contribute $.50 per $1.00, up to a total of $1 million, ignited enthusiasm with the EVMS community.
The result of this remarkable effort is over $3 million raised from 135 donors, including 48 EVMS alumni, coming together to create 18 new scholarships. The challenge capped off the final months of the Deliver on the Promise campaign, pushing EVMS to surpass its goal of $80 million for a total of $85.4 million.
The EVMS community is extremely grateful for Brad Waitzer and his commitment to EVMS. Alfred Abuhamad, MD, President, Provost and Dean of the School of Medicine, emphasized the importance of investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals.
“These scholarships will empower talented individuals to make a significant difference in healthcare and improve the lives of countless patients,” says Dr. Abuhamad.
The success of the Brad Waitzer Scholarship Challenge is a testament to the power of community, philanthropy, and the shared vision of creating a brighter future in healthcare. The impact of these scholarships will be felt for generations to come, as they empower dedicated individuals to make a meaningful contribution to the medical field.
