Community forum focuses on benefits of academic medical center
EVMS will focus on the value of an academic medical center Feb. 24 in the second in a series of community forums focused on the health of Hampton Roads.
Elias Zerhouni, MD, former Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Victor Dzau, MD, President of the National Academy of Medicine, will join the conversation on Feb. 24 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the next EVMS Community Forum, What’s in it for Hampton Roads? The Benefits of a Collaborative Academic Medical Center. They will be joined on a panel hosted by EVMS President, Provost and Dean of the School of Medicine, Richard V. Homan, MD; together with Norfolk State University President Javaune Adams-Gaston, PhD, and Old Dominion University President John Broderick, MS. L.D. Britt, MD, MPH, the Edward J. Brickhouse Chair in Surgery, the Henry Ford Professor of Surgery, Professor and Chair of Surgery, will moderate the discussion.
The forum is part of a continuing series of public discussions sponsored by EVMS to deepen understanding of community health needs and help explore options to improve the health and economy of Hampton Roads. This second forum provides an opportunity for business and community leaders, the medical community and the general public to engage with some of the nation’s premier thought leaders in medicine and health.
