EVMS will host public health panel on coronavirus
On Jan. 30, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus a global public health emergency. In light of this news, the EVMS Master of Public Health program will hold a Public Health Grand Rounds about the latest coronavirus, which causes the disease known as COVID-19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in Lester Hall, room 135.
“Coronavirus (COVID-19): Don’t Let Misconceptions Eclipse the Truth” will feature a panel of public health experts, including Edward Oldfield III, MD, Professor of Internal Medicine at EVMS and Infectious Disease Specialist; Demetria Lindsay, MD, District Director for the Norfolk and Virginia Beach Departments of Public Health; James Redick, MPA, Certified Emergency Planner and Director of the City of Norfolk’s Department of Emergency Preparedness and Response; Robert Alpino, MIA, Director of the Eastern Virginia Area Health Education Center at EVMS; and other public health experts.
