Two nationally known experts in the field of nutrition will speak at the inaugural Brock Institute Glennan Nutrition Symposium at EVMS, set for Wednesday, March 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. The symposium, which will be held in Lester Hall, will focus on the theme of "Food and Nutrition Security," and the public is invited.

Guest speakers are Michael Rothkopf, MD (MD ’79), President of the National Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists and Director of Metabolic Medicine at Morristown Medical Center; and Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, RD, a nationally known author, researcher, educator and award-winning journalist. 

Dr. Bazilian contributes regularly to NBC’s Today show and is a member of the Board of Advisors for Prevention magazine, Nutrition Editor for Healing Lifestyles & Spas and contributor to USA Today, Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health and other national publications. She is the author of Eat Clean, Stay Lean and received her doctorate from the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University, where she was honored with the prestigious Chancellor’s Award. 

Dr. Rothkopf is also Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University's Sidney Kimmel Medical College. He was part of the Columbia research group studying nutrition and the respiratory system and is the author of a textbook on nutrition and metabolism to be published in 2019. 

Details about a new EVMS Nutrition e-learning platform and the M. Foscue Brock Institute of Community and Global Health Nutrition Certificate Program will be announced during the event. The symposium is funded through The Cooke Fund of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.
