Take the pledge on America Recycles Day
On Monday, November 15, EVMS will celebrate America Recycles Day. The effort is party of a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful that recognizes the benefits of recycling while providing an educational platform to raise awareness about the value of reducing, reusing and recycling throughout the year.
The movement encourages everyone to actively choose to live a recycled lifestyle by committing to make a difference by:
- recycling at work, home and on-the-go;
- buying products made with recycled content; and
- educating and encouraging co-workers, friends, family and neighbors to Take the Pledge.
Since 2008, EVMS has collected over 750 tons or 1.5 million pounds of recyclable materials. A ton of 100 percent-recycled paper saves the equivalent of 4,100 kWh of energy, 7,000 gallons of water, 60 pounds of air emissions and three cubic yards of landfill space. This year, in support of Executive Order 77, EVMS has discontinued buying, selling and distributing single-use plastic items not for medical, public health and public safety use.
