Mission
Environmental Health & Safety provides assistance to faculty and staff working with hazardous materials. Potentially hazardous materials include biological and infectious organisms, hazardous chemicals and radioactive materials. EVMS possesses applicable federal, state and local licenses and permits to use and dispose of these materials. Compliance with regulations issued by these agencies is accomplished through training courses, laboratory evaluations and record‑keeping functions.
Responsibility
At EVMS, no job is so important and no service so urgent that we cannot take the time to perform our work safely and in an environmentally conscientious manner. Each manager and each employee is responsible for assuring that all activities result in an acceptable level of risk to themselves, to others present, to the general population and to the environment.
