  1. Distinguish between opioid dependence and addiction.
  2. Determine how opioid dependence/addiction interacts with the patient experience of pain and other psychiatric symptoms.
  3. Evaluate the impact of discontinuation of long-term opioids on patients.
  4. Develop a patient-centered approach to opioid tapering and treating chronic pain-related opioid addiction.
