Commencement 2020 to be celebrated with virtual ceremony

Last Updated 04-22-2020 10:29 a.m.

In response to COVID-19 and evidence of its likely progression over the next few months, EVMS Commencement will not take place as currently planned. Instead, EVMS will host a virtual ceremony Saturday, May 16, 2020. This alternative was supported by a survey of the graduating class and communicated to students by email sent by the administration.

In addition, all 2020 graduates will be invited back to participate in the May 2021 Commencement Exercises and EVMS Alumni Relations is working to create a dedicated Class of 2020 celebration later this year.

How To Tune-In

The EVMS Commencement Ceremony will be streamed on Ustream at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020. A link to the stream will be available on the EVMS website’s home page.

The recorded ceremony will be posted to view after the ceremony airs.

Download the Commencement App

Graduates can visit the Crowd Compass website, and enter the event password that will be provided in an email from EVMS Special Events. Graduates can use their EVMS email address to activate their account, or watch for the instructional email from CrowdCompass.

The app will allow graduates to stay informed of Commencement deadlines and important updates, upload photos and participate in an app game by taking part in the daily challenges the week of May 11 – 16. Any graduate who is one of the top four users of the app could win a beautiful wooden diploma frame.
