Brendan Stack Jr., MD
(MD ’89), Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, is one of two co-editors of Medical and Surgical Treatment of Parathyroid Diseases: An Evidence Based Approach, recently published by Springer International Publishing.
Brooke Edwards, MD
(Urology Residency ’14), has been named chief medical officer of The Urology Group in northern Kentucky. In this role, Dr. Edwards is a key member of the executive team and will play a pivotal role in providing medical oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure the continued delivery of advanced urological care in the tristate.

Patient Solidarity

EVMS students who are members of the National Gold Humanism Honor Society lead several patient-focused activities on campus in February in recognition of Patient Solidarity Week as a way to celebrate their dedication to ensuring compassionate, patient-centered care.

Spring Cleaning

Just a week after shoveling February snow, temperatures jumped to the 70s, making it perfect weather to clean out the fountain in front of the Brickell Medical Sciences Library.

CHOW Down

A healthy apple bread pudding that is tasty and wallet-friendly too? Students in our CHOW (Choosing Healthy Options for Wellness) service-learning track give a big thumbsup to this heart-friendly recipe (courtesy of the American Heart Association).

Good Works

Students, staff and faculty recently gathered to participate in a donation drive held by EVMS Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. They collected clothes, toiletries and snacks that were given to the homeless.

Air Buds

Holly Williams of 93.7 Bob-FM radio interviewed Jerry Nadler, MD, the Harry H. Mansbach Chair in Internal Medicine, Professor and Chair of Internal Medicine and Vice Dean of Research, at a diabetes screening held at Onelife Fitness in Norfolk. The event celebrated Onelife’s fundraising for EVMS’ diabetes research.

Outreach

Members of the EVMS Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association held a preventive screening event at the Chinese New Year Festival in Virginia Beach. Student volunteers from the MD Class of 2019, MD Class of 2020, the Master of Physician Assistant Program and the Medical Master’s program did Hemoglobin A1C level and blood pressure screenings.
