Diabetes Facts

Are you one of the 9 million Americans that have diabetes and are unaware? There are 3 types of the diabetes: Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational. Here are some facts of the disease:
  • You are not alone in the struggle, approximately 29.1 people (9.3 % of the American population) have diabetes. 
  • There's an estimated 86 million Americans aged 20 years or older with prediabetes.
  • Compared with other groups, non-Hispanic white children and adolescents had the highest rate of new cases of type 1 diabetes.
  • Although uncommon, adolescent type 2 diabetes cases are more frequent among American Indians, African-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians, and Pacific Islanders.
