EVMS Family and Community Medicine offers comprehensive outpatient and inpatient health care to patients ranging in age from infancy to geriatrics. Our physicians are fulltime teaching faculty at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Physicians in training (residents) and medical students are an extension of our practice. The integration of our practice with EVMS residents, physicians and students enhances your care and provides an academic advantage unique to our group.
Patients are seen at the department's two family medicine centers - Ghent Family Medicine and Portsmouth Family Medicine. Both sites use an electronic health record system (EHR) and offer a full range of care for all ages including:
- Women's health
- Men's health
- Maternity care
- Care for children
- Seniors care
- Inpatient and outpatient care
- Behavioral health assessments and counseling
We also offer a variety of procedures including:
- Colposcopy
- Cardiac testing
- Joint injections
- Minor surgery
- Pulmonary function testing
