Laparoscopy (Minimally Invasive Surgery)

Patients are often referred to our surgeons because of an undiagnosed abdominal problem. Our surgeons may recommend a diagnostic laparoscope (often called minimally invasive surgery) to assist in determining the cause of the problem.

Our surgeons use the laparoscopic approach for the following surgeries:

  • Abdominal wall hernia repair
  • Achalasia
  • Bile duct operation
  • Cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal)
  • Closure and treatment of perforated ulcers and intestinal conditions
  • Diagnostic abdominal pain
  • Feeding jujunostomy
  • GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)
  • Inguinal hernia repair
  • Liver biopsy
  • Operations to create or reverse colostomies
  • Operations to treat rectal prolapse
  • Partial colectomy
  • Removal of the spleen
  • Removal of one or both adrenal glands
  • Removal of a section of the liver or to treat liver cysts
  • Treatment of pancreatitis and its complications
