Story Date: Mon, 13 Apr 2015 12:40:00 EDT

This year’s student-run Community Care Day takes place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 18. For the first time, students will host the event at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, 1401 Ballentine Blvd. in Norfolk.

As in years past, the students will offer important health screenings free of charge. These can include Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, hearing, vision and skin cancer checks. There also will be student-run health information booths as well as by-stander CPR training.

For the kids, there are demonstrations on bike helmet safety, a bounce house, an opportunity to see ambulances and fire truck up close and more. There are health-related arts and crafts and face painting, too.
